At a meeting in Rock Hill a w few days ago of parties interest- \ ed, the Clawson Gold Mining Company, of Fort Mill, was or- 1 ganized with Dr. C. L. Clawson, of Richburg, president; A. S. Hunt, of Charlotte, vice presiJ?i S #*? ?? - ' uent, ana 1. w. uiawson, Ot | Fort Mill, secretary and treas- | urer. The company has been < chartered under the laws of this j State, the papers of incorpora- } tion specifying that business may , be commenced when $20,000 of i the $100,000 authorized capital stock has been subscribed. This ' amount has already been pledged , and development is expected to 1 commence at once. The Clawson gold mining properry is located in Gold Hill neighbornood, this township, about 4 I miles north of Fort Mill. The mines were cpened years ago and worked for a short time, but for a lack of the necessary equipment and capital the work was profitless and the mines were soon abandoned. The present , preliminary work was begun last November and the ore taken out ! has been of such value as to convince the owners that a handsome profit will be realized with the full development of the mines. The specimens assayed are reported to have ranged in value from $27 to $226 a ton and the | indications are that there is any 4u(uiui>; ui lb. Orders have been placed for the equipment with which to install a stamp mill and chlorination plant, and it is expected that tne mill will be in operation within the next two months. H. Thornwell, who was the Grand Keeper of Records & Seal of the order. A committee will be appointed by D. D. G. C. Park A. Dallis of Greenville in a few days to bejarin work on the raising funds in this district. r Stop It Quick. Contrary to the expectations 3f the public in general, the Fort Mill Presbyterian church will not unite with Ebenezer church in the employing of a pastor to succeed the lamented Dr. James H. Thornwell. This aecision was reacnea Sunday at a congregational meeting of the Presbyterians and the decision was almost unanimous. This action on the part of the local church must not be taken as an indication of friction between the churches for such is not the case. The Fort Mill and Ebenezer churches have worked in unison for many years and there was never an unpleasant feeling between them. The decision of the Fort Mill church to sever relations with Ebenezer was done solely for the reason that the congregation here realize the Inconvenience to which the pastor is put in attending both churches and also that the local church demands the regular attendance of a pastor. At a meeting Sunday a committee, the duty of which is to look out for a pastor, was appointed consisting of the following gentlemen: J. M. Spratt, chairman: R. F. Grier, E. W. Kimbrell, W. R. Carothers, J. W. Ardrey, L. J. Massey. This committee will meet during the week and map out a plan of procedure. BANE FOOLISHNESS.
