There are quite a large number of young Indies in the graduating class this year. On last Saturday Supt,_ J. H. Witherspoon carried the "classes of the graded school on an outing to the beautiful spring lot of Mr. F. N ms, two miles south of town. The children spent the day playing and wading in the branch, while the older ones enjoyed the refreshing shade and country breezes. The outing was most pleasant to all who went along. Providence and Banks Presbyterian churches, jubt across the line in Providence township, both of which were until recently presided over by Rev. Dr. J. B. Mack, have secured a new pastor i in the person of Rev. H. M. Parker, of James Island, S. C. The Fort Mill veterans who attended the reunion in Columbia last week returned Saturday, and according to what they say, the reunion was the most pleasant yet held. The patriotic citizens of Columbia had arranged an interesting program for the occasion and the old vets speak in the highest terms of the excellent manner in which the program was carried out, and cordial and kind treatment a > corded them during their stay in the Capitol City. In response to a telegram, Mrs. R. P. Harris and Mrs. J. H. Patterson went to Gastona Friday morning to attend the funeral of Mrs. J. L. Thomasson, who died in that city Thursday afternoon from the effects of measles. Mrs. Thomasson was about 25 years of age and before marriage, only a few months ago, was a Miss Cobb. Mr, Thomasson's friends here will be pained to learn of his bereavement. Mr. W. R. Bradford, who has for three years or more held the position of proofreader in The State office, has accepted a position with the Charlotte Observer and left Sunday to begin his work there.
