I new Business Houses to Oq Up
I
The prospects at present are very
bright, for the early fulfillment of
a loiigfelt want of the town, viz:
| a number of modem business
houses. That such buildings will
be erected in the early spring,
there is little room for doubt..
One of the stores will h?> 1
by Mrs. \V. S. Stewart, of Charlotte,
on a vacant lot on Main
street, to the west side ami adjoining
the building now occupied by
M?!!? Youngasa furniture store.
In size this store will bo one-story
high, 30 feet wide and 80 feet in
length, and will have a modern
plate* glass front. A large arch
door will connect the two rooms,
both of which will be occupied by
; Millh <fc Youii'4 in the display and
| stoning of their large stock of furniture.
The other buildings, three in
1 number, which the reporter is re.
liabl'y informed will he erected,
! will tie put up hy Mr. Walter Dav- j
I idson, of Chnrlotte. These stores. 1
J will he two-stories high, 27 feet
! widd and 90 feet long, and will also
h^ erected on Main street oppo- ,
site the public well. There will be
three store rooms on the lower'
floor, while the second story will j
be divided into a number of offices. !
It is said that Mr. JJavidson has
already secured routers for the
buildings.
Mrs. Stewart accompanied by a
Charlotte contractor, Mr. Ashbury, i
visited Foit Mill on Wednesday
for the purpose of selecting a si e
i and mnking other arrangements
! for tlie erection of her new building.
I Mr. Davidson is expected!
here during the week to complete
the plans for his buildings.
A Pet Wild Ranco
Contrary to the assertion tlint
it iH impossible to domesticate,
a wild goose or members of the 1
jollier wild feathery species, Mr.
Bennie Armstrong, whose home is
about 2 miles east of Fort Mill, is
j about to accomplish just such an
undertaking.
Some days ago, while out hunt- ;
itig near Sugar creek, Mr. Arm-|
strong shot and broke the wing of
a larneuo.se, which, after an ex- j
. citing chase of several ninutes, he
succeeded iu capturing. Mr. Armstrong
has a number of domestic
geese and he was at once seized
with a desire to add this Hue spee1
irnen of His Gooaeship to his
tlock. The goose was accordingly
carried home, and, afier tlie tlock
had been driven into the garden,!
was turned in. The now member
at once mingled with others of the i
llock and has now become so tame '
that it will respond with the others t
when food is offered.
