Court Closed.
The circuit court, which was in
Session t'<>r nearly three weeks,
closed Saturday afternoon. J'lie

Catawba Power Company, which
was Watched with interest by the
people of this township, was the

in a verdict for the defendant company.
Sometime in 1002, it will

to Hock Hill and was placed in the

The Child Labor Lav?.
The second section of the child
labor law went into effect Monday.

is now unlawful to employ a child
under 11 yoarft of a?;e to woik in
any mine, factory or textile establishment
in this {State. The first
section reads:
"Be it enacted by tlio general
Assembly of the state of South Carolina,

day of May, 190B, no child under
the aj*e of 10 year kIuiII b'e employed
in ahv factory, mine, or textile
establishment of the slate; that
from after the first day of May,
190-1, no child under the atco of 12
years shall be employed in any fac- j
tory. mine, or textile establishment i

provided.
Section .1 of the law provides
that children of a widowed inothei

father who are dependent upon
