On account of the Confederate
Veterans' Kcunion in New Orleans
the Southern Railway will run a
special train from South Carolina
through to Now Oilcans, without
change. This Train will leave Columbia
at 7 a. m. on Monday, May
IS, going via Newberry, Greenwood
and Greenville.
The Fort Mill ball team has at
last secured a ground upon which
to practice, and the outlook at present
is that we aie to have some
good ball at an early day. The

Medical Association of Georgia,
Dr. Alexander .Mack, of Hawkinsville,

Mack was also honored by being
elected an officer of the State Medical
Association.
The Southern Express office was
entered by thieves a few nights
ago and four gallons of whiskey
stolen. A negro man named
"Shorty," who was found in a

Mrs. ?T. II. Thornwll, of this

intelligence of the death of her
sister, Mrs. Mary Karle Sloan,
which took place at Columbia at 1
o'cloc k. Mrs. Sloan was a tm ruber

and was a woman of marked
benevolence, beloved by all \vh
knew her. Mrs. Thornwoll went
to Columbia Monday to attend the
