from Washington, which stated
"A curious ease, involving a leper
soldier from the Philippines,, is

last week, there were liijjrh hopes
that he would recover without an
operation, such as is usually necessary

however. Mr. ArcJ'oy wis not so
well and it was decided that all
operation would he necessary to

operation was perfoiniod on Friday

having already ruptured and poritonitis

hore the pain exceedingly well
and on Saturday morning t he word

resting easy. For tiiis encouraging
word many ^\ere heard to
express their grutitieal ion and offer
hopes f iiis immediate recovery.
On Sunday morning, however, the
patient seemed not so well, and
late in the afternoon word was sent
out that he was very low and that
it was impossible for him to live
through the night. The end came
at 10 II 'clock.
Mr. Ardrey was years of age.
and the second son of ('apt. and
Mrs. J. W. Auirey, of this place.
11e was a devoted nietnhei, and eon

church. Mr. Ardrey has spent
hut a shoi t while of the past four
or live years at his home here, having
lit en a student at the South
Carol mi College, at Columhia,

that time lie engaged in the laundry

resigned liis place there several

the TCquitable Life .Wuranro Society.
Hn was well known through
out the State, having boon manager
of the S. C1. ball loam for a
number of years, and having trav
elled extensively as correspondent
for several of the loading newspipers.
Mr. Ardroy was one of
those young men who would make
friends wherever he went, and t<
make a friend was to hold him,
f<?r he was always courteous and
kind to his feilowmau. it may
he truthfully said that the
death of no young person in the
State would eause deeper r.'gi I
and be more keenly felt than that
of this excellent and most prom
ising young man.
lie leaves a father, m .titer, three
sisters and two brothers, and many
other relatives to mourn his untimely
death.
The remains were interred Monday
afternoon in the family plot,
id the town cemetery, by the sub
of his sister. Miss Jjillie, who died
