was damaged by a storm a few
weeks ago.
The petit jurors from Fort Mill

A large crowd assembled at the
Methodist ehurch Sunday evening
to hear Rev. \\ right's special Odd

the highest terms. The collection
for the Kpworth Orphanage was 1
very encouraging.
Next Saturday is the day apoint

on the old base ball ground, and
the public is invited to be present.
The ligur will bo 4 o'clock.

The name of Capt. S. K. White

A large portion of the land in

Better Train Service.
By the addition of two more
trains on the old H-Cs railroad,
now operated by the Southern,
the people of this townsldp will
soon he enabled to go to Yorkviile,
spend the day, and return in the
evening of the day, all by rail. It
is announced t tint on or about
December 1 two trains, one each
way, will he run out from Rock
Hill early in the morning and return
in the afternoon, connecting;
with botli north and southbound
Southern trains at Rock llill.
This will prove a valuable e-nven
ience to the people of Fort Mill
township, many of whom occasionally
have business at YorkvitD
and who, rather than devote two
days to making the trip by rail,
are compelled to drive through the
country, a distance of iM miles.

Narrowly Escaped Destruction
An accident which all but re- j
rullod in the destruction of a wag- ,
on and probably the killing of a
I pair of fine mules occurred at tindepot
nionday Morning, and was
averted only by chance, or luck,
as some would say.
Several teams belonging to Mr.
J. M. Armstrong were engaged in
hauling seed to the depot for shipl
meat. At the time of the accident
a freight engine was shifting cars
on the side-track. The driver of
one of the teams did not notice
the train backing toward the crossing
over which he had to go, and
drove his team squarely across the
tracks. It wivs at this moment the
luck came in, for the train had not
more than struck the team when
the brakes were applied, with full
force, and stopped the train. The |
only damage was the scattering of
a quantity of seed upon the ground
and the unnerving of a careless j
driver, but the incident should be '
a warning against futu?e occur- I
rences of the kind. The next dri- i
ver might not be so fortunate.

of the variety known as the "Providence,"
