Wade Hapjpto# is dead. Ho
was a brave and chivalrous man,
Ail honorable jpid courtly gentlein0ii,
a bold and bril.iant soldier,
nn able stutesmun. All in all he
represented the highest type of an
ideal Southern gentleman. Ah
was G/e^rge Washington to his
country, so was Wade Hampton to
liis State, a father to his people
and in their hearts the first in war
and the tirtst in peace. His death
will be mourned for years and his
memory will live for generations.

yesterday afternoon

The case against Thomas Eineberger,
charged with endangering
passengers, was no I pro.-sed by the
polie-tor on the payment of the
cost lo the amount of 5 15 by the
defendant.
Henry Green Wylie wns convicted
on the charge of endangering
passengers on a railroad ear and
was sentenced to imprisonment at
hard labor for ten months.
The case of It. W. Featherstone,
charged with selling property under
mortgage, was nol pros-ted on

Wm. Boyd nod Bert Neely plead
guilty of housebreaking nnd larceny,

Phillip Smith, white, was convicted
of larceny of live stock and
was sentenced to go to the Slate
penitentiary or the chaingung for
a period of two years.
In the pHBe of \V. K. Burgess,
charg? d with assault. and battery,
the solicitor entered a nolle
prosequi.
The ease against William Tigue,
charged with violation of the dispensary
law, way nol prossed.
Will Hampton plead guilty of i
