It has now been several weeks sinoe the Branchville train robberry took place and as yet llie authorities are apparently as fains ever from a solution of the mystery. Rewards have been offered i for the apprehension of the ban- j dils and the country for miles around the scene of the hold-up has been scoured in quest of the guilty parties. It is the general opinion that the robbery was committed by men who live in the neighborhood of the scene. In that section of the Stnte, however, there is one of the wildest strips of country in the United States. There are some dark and mysterious stories connected with the swamps in upper Colleton and lower Barnwell counties. It is said that strangers entering them were never seen alive again, and it is probuble that the bandits who held up the Southern train will never be brought to justice. To Investigate Water powers.
