issue with Mr. Payne as to the

Mill Neighborhood was Subdued and
Cured of His Meanness?Died a 'Jaod

days. They were holding nightly
meetings and drilling ?U different

Robinson. He weighed about two
hundred pounds; had only one
I eye, and his mouth looked like

Klux got tired of Col. Robinson's
proceedings about the town and
vicinity. They determined to,

with blood, thunder and

struck the bridge they were saying
mean things about the Kii Klux.
The Klan rose up as one man all
over the hillside and pulled the
strings of the dumb bulls and blew
their whistles. Cotton fell flat on I
the bridge, Robinson r.bsed his
torch above his head and took one
look at tho Ku Klux as they were
swooping down oil him. He dropped
the torch, yelled at his son
Isaac to drop the sack and follow ;
him. He jumped at least a halfcar
length, comineneed to pray and
made a bee line for the swamp.
The prayer that he offered was
heard by two men sitting on a
fence a half-mile from the scene.1
Before be got well into the swamp
he fell over a log, he scratched a j
bole in the mud and got under the >
log. Isaac took another course,
full in the mmlami remained there
till near daybreak, when lie crawled
out to a briar thicket an I stayed
in till next day. Big John Oliver
crawled out s uuetiine before day
and went to his cabin. For two!
weeks Robinson stayed in doors
with his old musket stuck through
a crnok near the chimney with the
dock cleared for action. At length
he cnmeout, went up town and pave
in his experience. }{p said there

feet hi till. Robinson never went to
another nij^ht moetini; or mad-'
any more speeches. That night's
work stopped ni^ht meetings and
