Capt. Alex. P. Ardrey. cousin of
Mr. d. \Y. Ardrey, of this place,
died at his home iti Dallas, Tex.,
last week. Ctpt. Ardrey was an
elderly gentleman, and, as will be
recalled by some, visited his velatives
in this section for the first
time last year. He was a prominent
man in his section, an ex-Con- 1
federate soldier and a typical

Capt. W. K. Ardrey. of Ardrey*. to
visit him and his familv during
the reunion at Dallas next year.

Changes in the internal revenue
stamp tax law. by which the
special tax will lie modified or re- j
moved, will go into effect on July
1. W hile this change, will save a
large amount of money to business
people and others the financial
gain will be small compared to the
joy which will prevail at the end- 1
ing of a regulation which caused
no end of worry. After July there :
will he no stamps on bank checks, i
telegrams, bills of lading, bonds,
sight drafts, express receipts,
mortgages and scores of oilier doc
uments. There is also a li-t of
''modified articles," where a reduc- 1
tion will bo allowed, and the tax
will remain on many articles and
for many dealers until further
orders from the Government.
