Friday evening an eloquent address,
which was listened to by ft
large audience, was deli veil by Dr.
A. P. Montague, president of Furman
University, on "Christian Education."
He spoke of the growth
of the Uniied States from the i
original l.'l States down to the j
present day, attributing the increase
in population, etc., to Christian
education. In speaking of
the negro, he referred to the monument
erected to the faithful slaves
in Fort Mill. Particular stress was
laid upon the growth of Mormonism,
which results from tho lack
of Christian education. After the
address of Dr. Montague was concluded,
a collection was taken up
for the benefit of FiTinmn University,
and about $l8o in cash and
pledges was secured.
The Saturday morning session of
the association was devoted to tinreading
and discussion of reports
from the committees on State,
