Considerable inconvenience was experienced by a force of workmen on the Southern Railway in this place last Thursday in rorailing two loaded coal cars which jumped the track. Two locomotives were required to pull the cars on the track agnin. The York County Baptist Asso- \ ciatiou assembled in the Baptist church at this place Friday morn- j ing at. 11 o'clock. The meeting was largely attended, there being present more than twenty-five dc 1egatea, as woll as a number of representatives of the institutions of the denomination. He spoke of the growth of the Uniied States from the i original l.'l States down to the j present day, attributing the increase in population, etc., to Christian education. In speaking of the negro, he referred to the monument erected to the faithful slaves in Fort Mill. Particular stress was laid upon the growth of Mormonism, which results from tho lack of Christian education. After the address of Dr. Montague was concluded, a collection was taken up for the benefit of FiTinmn University, and about $l8o in cash and pledges was secured. The Saturday morning session of the association was devoted to tinreading and discussion of reports from the committees on State, home and for. ign missions, orphan age, etc., and the transaction oi othor business.
