Mrs. H. A. Blackwell of Floydal made the highest , score of those, eltering on this' date J and also made tfc highest total score of 366 for the i>ur scorings during ^ the contest. Mrs.J. A. McEachern of 7 Hamer came seond with 365. The highest average cores of contestants entering two or three times were made tv Miss Ctherine McEachern of Hamer ^rith a?core of 90 1-3 and by Mrs. R. W. Fenegan cf Dillon whose score wag 89 1-3. The greatest improvement >f 5.65 per cent was made by Mrs. P. -I. Stuart of HainerI Vjntyre. In the cold regions of the south his crop can be grown if given som? protection, or in canvas covered frames throughout the winter. Tie soil should be made fairly rich. Tell rotted manure is the best fertlizer. Sow the manure broadcast, ant thoroughly harrow it into the soil. -Tve ounces of seed will make two plaitings on a plot 20 feet, seuare in drlls 10 to 12 inches apart.
