An advertising revival as a means j;
tcward business improvement thaii *
would solve the unemployment problem
was suggested by William H.
Rankin, of New York and Chicago.i?
in a letter to Secretary of Labor

ployment conference, made public ,j

Mr. Rankin proposed the initiation

Mr. Kankin pointed out the vast re- t
suits obtained throughout the war 8
period by advertising campaigns *
directed toward solving the problems
^ which confronted the government, ^
and said:
"I believe advertising can help just
as much now, in this unemployment ?S
problem, as it did in any of the cain-l
paign exploited during the war, dnd|I
that is particularly true in regard to J
the matter of price reduction.
Would Stimulate Iluying.
"I happen to know that the concerns
that let the way in price re^
duct ion are today six months ahead ,
oi those who have not, and I also
know that price reduction has stimulated
buying and that advertising is
the only way to let the people know
wl "re they can now buy goods at
pr : var prices and on a basis where j
the long margin of profit has been \
cut down to a Tair margain. ,]
"I Relieve advertising may l?e used d
. not only to convince the public <h-jt
they should buy products that are c
now being advertised at a fair price. ^
but can also be used to convince the,1
- manufacturers that they should not 1
only reduce their prices, hut use ad- 1
vertising space to w/'-t the public L
kr.ow that now is the time to buy." |

Motherhood creates almost a new
state of being for a woman.
as a result, new nerves, those heretofore
restful and quiescent, spring
into activity, they cry out, they tingle,
they burn in their unrest.
The network of nerves across the
abdomen, the loins, the back and
other parts now become super-sensitive.
All these nerves are being called
on to perform unusual duties.
These nerves must be pacified
and comforted; must be put in
condition for the crisis that is
pending.
If these nerves are not soothed and
quieted, they may set up aggravated
nerve tension, increasing in severity
from month to month, sometimes
'even culminating in a nervous paralysis
of the back and limbs. This leaves
the mother-to-be in a condition where
y.she is unable, fully, to meet the test
when the climax of maternity arrives.

Mother's Friend is used externally
as a massage; and its purpose, thru
daily use, is to gradually, gently and
effectively relax the muscles and
nerves involved in the function of
child-bearing; to make the skin soft,
pliable and elastic so that it may
expand easily and naturally as the
abdominal parts enlarge?thereby relieving
the tension and strain on these
muscles and nerves of the otherwise
