Coming and Going.
Mr. J. E. Henry returned Thursday
night from Rocky River Springs
where he hag been for the past ten
days.
Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Coleman of Elberry
were visitors here on Saturday
afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Walker and son
Dixon left here during the past week
* for Atlanta, Ga., where they will
spend t^n days visiting relatives and
friends his old home.
Dr. J. J. Bethea and his son Enimett,
also H. P. Dickson of Hattiesburg.
Miss., are here visiting Dr. Bethea's
brother, W. K. Bethea. These
gentlemen started on this long trip
by motor on Monday the 11 of July
it being something like 800 miles,
and arrived here near the middle of
the day on the following Friday, and
made several long stops at various
cities through which they passed. It
is understood that Mr. \V. K. Bethea
will accompany his brother back to
Mississippi, and while there visit a
son of his in Arkansas.
Mrs. It. J. Dew and son Roddick
returued after a ten days visit with

Mary Price spent Saturday afternoon
in Marion.
Miss Sadie Hewitt of Marion spent

Harold Murph who pitches ball in

were calling on friends on Sunday afternoon
at this place.

C., will be sorry to learn that she Is
dangerously ill.
Rev. W. C. Foster who up to about
four months ago was pastor of the
Baptist church here, who now lives
ac St. Petersburg. Fla., stopped over
for a day of his way to a visit to relatives
in Virginia.
Mr. and Mrs.*H. A. Faust and son
of Columbia and Walter Mitchel of
Hickory, N. C., who have been guests

to their respective homes.
It was quite an enjoyable occasion
when Mr. W. Ellis Bethea entertained
his Sunday school class Thursday
afternoon, July the 14th with
a water melon party. On account of
rain there was not a full attendance,
but fifteen attended, and enjoyed a
fine variety of melons that he prizes
himself in making each year. Mr. Bethea
has taught this class of young
women, there being about thirty enrolled
continuously for the past twen-j
ty-two years, it being one of the sev0
eral organized classes of the Methodist
church here, and the class feels
that it has done some good in the:
past.
Miss Annie Covington entertained
a few of her friends Saturday morning
in honor of her week end guests, |

There have been a number of invitations
received here to the marriage
of Miss Mary Moore Stoneiborner
to Mr. O. J. Zeigler. Both
i taught here last year in the High
School and before the end of the term
it was a foregone conclusion that
they meant business. The marriage
will take place at Edinburg, Va.,
Miss Stoneburner's home on the 19th
jof July.
A marriage of more than usual interest
was that of Miss Mae Berry, the
youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T.
1%. Berry, to Mr. Luther B. Rogers.
The ceremony was performed at the
jhome of the bride's parents at 10:30

by Dr. Kirkland, pastor of the Latta
Methodist church. Only the relatives
and intimate friends were present.
Mrs. Russell Shaw of Bishopville and
Mrs. Tryall of Baltimore being the
only out-of-town guests. The bride
is a young woman of exceptional
charm. Her winsome manner and
lovable disposition win the love and
admiration of all with whom she
comes in contact. Mr. Rogers is a
very prominent business man of Dillon
county and is much admired by
all who know him. Mr. and Mrs. Rogers
left immediately for Washington,
New York and other citiea of interest.
Legion Auxiliary at Latta.
At five o'clock on the afternoon of
July first, eleven elegible ladies of
Latta met at the residence of Mrs. E.
C. Major to form an Auxiliary Unit
to the American Post No. 49. Two
weeks previous to this the American
Legion votes favorable to the unit
were cast and Mrs. E. C. Major elected
temporary chairman to secure
necessary information relative to organization.
