lam VEBHCT FOR M. A. WOODS. fkM teU. & Court Under the AntlBTutntk Act. The entire time of the Federal court yesterday was consumed with the trial of Dr. M. A. Woods, of Columbia, charged with violating the Harrison narcotic laws. The case went to the Jury at the closing of court yesterday afternoon and a verdict of guilty was returned last night. Fred Stanton was sworn as a witness, and testified that he had sold narcotics for Dr. Woods and that he had also seen Dr. Woods himself dispense narcotics. Evidence was introduced to prove that Dr. Woods had in his possession two marked bills which had been obtained by him as a result of selling narcotics. Several witnesses were Introduced during the day. Judge Smith ruled out evidence which might reflect on the reputations of members of the defendant's family and thus by imputation reflect on him. In his charge to the jury he stated that very little law was involved in the case and that the jurors would have to decide the matter on the evidence submitted. 0 REVENUE OFFICER MAY BE REMOVED. CEuiff Likely to Be Made in Carolina Districts. Washington, D. C., June 14? While no official announcement has yet been made, it is believed that plans have been about perfected by the new commissioner of internal revenue to readjust the internal revenue districts of thte Carolines so that ' South Carolina will cease to be an independent district and will return to it? former statute as a part of a district having its headquarters in Western North Carolina. It is considered likely that the new Western Carolina district's headquarters will be at Winston-Salem, the home city of David H. Blair, the present commissioner of Internal revenue. If this happens there will be no internal revenue collector in South Carolina and National Committeeman J. W. Tolbert will have to look for some thing else for his brother, R. R.| Toibert of Abbeville. o BEN N ETTS VILLK SEEKS TUBERCULOSIS CAMP.
