Stanton, left Tuesdaj for Pineburst where they attendee the annual meeting of the North Car olina Medical Association. Mrs. P. P. Phillips of Darlington who has been visiting her parent1 here, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Rowland returned home Sunday. She was ac companied home by her sister, Mis: Columbia Rowland, who will spent some time with her. Saturday is the last day of grac< for paying taxes. The general ossein bly extended the time till April 30tl with a penalty of 3 per cent but afte April 30th the penalty will be 7 pe cent. Mrs. Capers Braddy entertained the Women's Club on Monday afternoon J from four to six o'clock- After several rounds of rook, delicious refreshments of ice cream with Ansel cake and strawberry shortcake with whipped cream were served by the hostess assisted by Mesdames Jewell McLuUrin and McKeithan Rogers. Music on the piano by Miss Beulah Braddy , was enjoyed by all. Prof. W. H. McNalry who will sue- i ceed Prof. Robers as superintendent of the Dillon Schools snent vester- 1 day in town. During the day Prof. McNalry had a conference with the board of trustees and outlined the work for the coming season- Mr- McNairy's home is in Chester, but he is', 110 stranger to the people of the Pee'J Dee section, as ho taught in the Mar-|. mn schools for sev-eral years. j* In a letter to Dr. W. B. Smith, \V. j C. Easterling who moved to Florida! about two years ago, says that he is j enjoying the excellent Florida dim-1' ate and that his health has greatly I improved. Mosdames Fitz.liugh and Lutie I!oII hea entertained the Mother's Club on last Friday afternoon at Mrs. Fitzliugli Bet Ilea's lovely country home. Entertaining and instructive papers were read on ihe care and fot ding of infants and small children by several of the members. Mrs. Cot-j tingham acted as president in the absence of Mrs. Joe Lane. Misses McKenzie and McLeod the two honorary members pave instructive talks. The club members were delighted to have Us their guests, four grandmothers. Refreshing punch was served during tho afternoon by Mrs. A. V. Bethea. At the conclusion of the program, ice cream with strawberries and cake was served by the hostess assisted by Mesdames Truss and J. F. Thompson.
