* ON COTTON i FOR UEBMAX PORT. Me?| and Courier. 11 Thhing on a supply of fuel oil, and < 950 bales of cotton together i !?ltk other commodities making up a i ;S?seral cargo, in less than twenty- j Co?r hours, is the record achieved by \ the steamship Saecaranna. which - came into port Saturday. The Saccarappa arrived at 1 o'clock Saturday* afternoon and was proceeding to sea Sunday afternoon, at IS.30 o'clock. This is conceded to' have been somewhat of a feat by men in shipping circles, and the officers of the Carolina Company which handled the vessel and furnished the cargo are prou^ of the record made. The cargo is lor export to Bremen Hainberg. Germany, and is one of the many ships which the Carolina Company will hav^ sailing from this port to handle a large volume of business which they have worked up. o SOUTH DOOMED TO DISASTER. The ^ prospects for increased production ] arc not hopeful. There is now enough ( cotton to last nearly two years at ( the pre-war normal rate of consump- . tion.
