Why mot gi* the farmer i square
leal?
If he la to receive greatly reduced
rices for his crops, then the labor he
imnlova and tha thl.ra Kn?a
rroduce these crops should be reduced
in proportion. So should everyhlng
else that he uses.
At the present time there is a
narked tendency in this country to
'let Qeorge do the reducing."'
Everybody wants prices reduced in
svery line but his own with the remit
that manufacturers, wholesalers,
Ltstrlbutors and dealers throughout
he business world are straining themelves
in an effort to keep prices up
n order that they may revell a litle
longer In th? golden waters of exessive
profits.
Every hum&Q being depends upon
he farmer for the food that susains
life, and every hand is leveled
it him in an effort to beat him down
n his prices.
A great wave of protest against
ood prices has swept this country
rom one end to the other, and yet
his avalanche of criticism which has
ingulfed the man who feeds us has
>een voiced principally by men who
lave been reaping even greater profts
than the farmer.
We are not the champion of the
nan of the soil, any more than We
ire of any other man or woman In
ino wiuuiuuuy, or mis country.
We are Just as everse to paying
excessive prices for the food we eat
is any other person can possibly be, j
>ecau&e we have to dig deeply and;
sough up mightily to meet the strain.
But we are an advocate of the
>quare deal business.
That the farmer is not getting.
He is everybody's goat.r
We do not believe the high prices
n this community are due to exces-J
;lve profits on the part of our local j
lealers. Their reputations for fair,
lealing are too well known for that.
