School boys and girls In all parts of : tills State are reorganizing the sav- j ings societies which did such excellent work last session, and it is believed thai even better records will be made during this school year. In the nine months of the 1919-1920 session more than $2,315,000 was invested in Sav? ings Stamps, Thrift Stamps and other government securities in this dlstrice. Sholwell, director of the educational fttviaion of the district War Loan Oi> ganization, last summer visited all of NJthe summer schools in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina, and was instru' mental in having regular courses ia practical thrift incorporated in the curriculum not only in the State sum* mer schools but in the county school* and teachers' Institutes. In all, mor* than 660 lesson* and demonstration* ,1a thrift principles were given to upwards of 11,000 teachers. Many of these teachers?most of them, very likely?will correlate the thrift idea w<*h fh aIp rlAJia work this session ( The savings movement Is being coaducted in the schools, and elsewhere, under the direction of the United States Treasury Department. "Work and Save" is one of the slogans. In other words, efTort is being made to make everyone realize?particularly the boys and girls of today who will be the men and women of tomorow-the importance of increasing production, at curtailing waste, of wise spending, of systematic saving, and of investing in such securities as government bonds. Savings Stamps and Thrift Stamps. ; Last session the hundreds of savings societies in this State gave ample evidence of the patriotism and intelligent endeavor of their members.
