holidays at the home of Mr. E. L.

family returned last week from Tampa,
Fla., after spending the holidays
with the latter's mother, Mrs. Kate

Mr. G. E.' Rancke, who has been
been staying with his daughter, Mrs.
Fred M. Lane for the past several
m nths, has returned to his home in
Lumberton.
The Woman's Missi nary Society
0f the B aptist church will observe
the week of. p rayer for foreign
missions next week, beginning
at the Baptist church next Sunday
afternoon at 4130 o'clock.
Mr. 0. J. Pierce, F1 rida Representative
of the Detroit Vapor Oil Stove
Co., after spending the holidays at
his home in Detroit, stopped over in
Dillon on his way back to Florida and
spent the day with Mr. W. A. Blizzard.

Mr. George Bond, one of the most
substantial citizens 'f the Raynham
section, h as moved t0 and w ill
farm the. Stafford place two miles j
east of Dillon. Many years ago Mr.
Bond resided near Dillon and has
many friends in this section who will
be glad to learn that he h as taken
up h is residence here once more.
A small frame building In the rear
of G. L. Seals' store on Railroad avenue
was destroyed by fire Thursday
night. The origin of the fire is unknown.
The prompt arrival of the
fire department saved adjoining
buildings from destruction.
Mr. I. T. Wood and family have
moved to Marion where Mr. Wood
has purchased the DuBose "residence.
Last fall Mr. Wo<fPpurchased
the ice factory at Mariomand he
is moving there in orden^t)' be
nearer his business. The Dillon factory
will be in charge if his son,
Mr. Josie Wood. Mr. Wood and his
family have many friends in Dillon
who regret to see them leave. They
were prominent in the s ocial life
H the town and M r. Wood himself
is one of Dillon's most prominent
and substantial business men. They
carry with them to their new home
the best wishes of scores of friends.
One of Dillon's oldest mercantile
establishments passed into new hands
this week w hen Mr. L. C ttingham
disposed of h is business t0 Mr. O.
W. Jackson. Mr. CottinghAm is one
of Dillon's veteran merchants, having
been in b usiness continuously at
the same stand for nearly fifteen
years. During that time Mr. Cottingham
has given his business very
clbse attention, ana while he will
continue to identify himself with
the business interests of the town,
he retires from the mercantile business
so that he will be able to take
