Selling Coffins on the Installment
Plan.
Dawson, Ga.?This is the day of
enterp ise and business push, and con.
stantly some new line of endeavor to
coax the coy and timid ducat from
its hiding place is sprung on the public.
But it has remained for the representative
of some foreign concern
^ who is now working the county to
"cap the climax'" in that respect.
According to report mis ienow is
^ canvassing among negroes and selling
^ i coffins on the installment plan
?a payment when the order is given
? and the remainder at intervals until
the box is paid for. The argument
used is that, as the coffin is to be
occupied by the purchaser when he
enters upon the eternal sleep, he is
entitled to have one to suit his own
idea, and the only way to do it is to
select it while alive and put it away
until it is needed.
It is said that he has taken a number
of orders, and if he is not a fa_
kir a coffin will soon be a part of the
furniture in many negro households.
