C., at which every A county in the state was represented h except three. Director of Labor, H. K L. Tilghman, presided. It was stated that South Carolina would be called K on to furnish several thousand labor8 ers for necessary government work. ' It is necessary for each county to d furnish its pro rata part of this labor. >f When labor is drawn it will be done it in a manner that is fair to individuals a and to all parts of the county. If any it one needs more labor it will be ne Lr eessary to get a permit from the counr ty Labor Board before it can be sea cured either from towns in the state t- or from your neighbor's farm. A.'a of Pee Dee Associa- i tion which was held at Piney Grove I Baptist church last Friday was a < great success. The attendance was < good despite the hot weather and i each of us who had the pleasure of i being present felt that it was good I to le there. We appreciated the hos- i pltality of the ladies and enjoyed' j the nice dinner. The informal program which was planned by Miss Ruth Allen, our' superintendent, was exceptionally good. The most important feature of the program was a plea for workers on the Foreign Field by Rev. W. B. Sherwood of Little Rock who is to sail , soon for Brazil. His plea was so earnest and full of love for God and lost souls that many hearts were stirred. I It was a joy to have him at our meet-! ing and we are sorry that every girl! in the Association could not be pres' ent to hear him. Just before the conclusion of the meeting Mrs. Boatright presented Mr. Sherwood with a little check as a parting gift from the Pee Dee girls. She also extended their interest, best wishes and prayers for him as he goes to his new' ' work. We wish to express our thanks to! our superintendent for making this) meeting possible and hope that we can have another in the near future. a - i. The following prophecy- by the Monk Frate Johannes, who lived about the year 1600, is remarkable in Its application to the present world crisis. The Advertiser at first doubt-' ad its authenticy, because of a few discrepancies in the text, but thej matter was referred to the newspaper information bureau at Washington, and Director Frederic J.
