DILUON, S. C. .ll'XK 15, lOll. * h Somebody in New York wants 0 Mayor Gaynor to stop the newsboys from hollering. Mr. Gaynor does not ' c care how much the newsboys hoi-1 ^ ler, but he would give a whole lot g to silence the newspapers. It is said that a woman who walked 1,00 0 miles to preach to the | Charlestoniaus was arrested and inrown in jail. If this is true what i Is likely, to happen to the salvation j' army down there is dreadful to eon- j template. j j A Georgia jury has awarded a i man $10,000 for a hog that was killed on the railroad, but still it is hard to convince some folks?particularly those who I've near rail- \ roads ? that hop raising is a prof-i z? industry. j' \ The\'olumbia State notes that all records were broken by the number . of marriage announcements appear-1 ing in its society columns hist Sun- ' day. The State has lost sight of j the fact, no doubt, that it costs $1 to get married after June 30th. An army officer has been severely rebuked by the i-eshlent for say- 1 ing that a young Jewish subordinate ^ woo had risen from the ranks to a ^ lieutenancy was unfit to associate f with the other officers because his! > father was a tailor at the post and ' therefore of inferior social standing. It is a pity the president did not have! t the power to administer something more than a rebuJce. A man with j so liitle sense has no business with a commission in the army and the sooner he is kicked out the better for the service. Snobocracy is some^ tiling that real Americans do not tolerate anywhere, and at West Point, an institution belonging sole- t ly to the people and supported en- j j tirely upon public money, is a place that one would least expect to see ' it. Therefore a snob should be 1 fired out of the army like a man ( afflicted with the plague. Report of Onuid Jury - ! i To the Hon. R'obt. E. I j The grand jury having appointed C committees to look after the inves- j * ligation of the county offices and ^ the magistrates of the county are! ? | not in a position at this time to! make a report on these offices, j The Grand Jury requests all mag- 1 istrates to bring their books to the Clerk of Court for Dillon county on the 10th day of July to be in- ( vestigated by the committee fromf ^ the Grand Jury. We wish to thank His Honor, the i presiding judge, and the solicitor ! ' on the dispatch of the courts husi- ^ liese. Respectfully submitted, C H. C. Pinklea, Foreman, j g tX)l ItT PROCKKDIINC.S.
