BASEBALL SCHOOL TO
BE LARGELY ATTENDED
From the large number of reglstra-

of Community Service, the question
is not how many teams will be in
■he boys’ league, but how many lea
gues it will take to accomodate a'l
of the teams organized It is ex
pected that practically every boy In
the city between the ages of 10 and
16 vevars of age will gather at Hirks
Field Saturday morning at 10 o’clock,
for the first session of the Junior
baseball school, which will lead into
the formation of a regular baseball
league for F'oronce.

has returned to her home after spend
ing some t’me with Mrs. W. A.
Dowling.

As a result of the meeting of the
executive committee of the pageant
yesterday afternoon, work has already
begun on staging the mammoth pro
duction. The history committee met
last night and outlined plans suf
ficient for the committees on (’ances.
costumes, and some of the others di
rectly affected, to begin work.
The question of a site for holding
the pageant was brought up, and.the
Pee Dee Fair grounds were suggest
ed as being a most appropriate loca
tion. The grounds committee and
some others made a trip out to the
grounds toi’ay to look over the place.
All committee* arc hard at work
todav. and plans are going forward
rapidly for staging this pageant of
the Old South during the Confederate
state reunion here In May.
Names for the pageant are already
coming in. and all are asked to com
pete for the prize of $5 that Is to he
given for the name that is llnally
selected by the eommlttee. A sam
ple of names that have hern used
for other pageants are the Keo.vee
Trail, used at Greenville, and the Pel
ican, used iti Louisiana.
The history committee asks that

home. They have been told also that

Methodist church Sunday evening at
8 o’clock. The sermon will be by
Rev. G. T. Harmon, pastor of the
church, who is past prelate. Delphi
Commandery of Bennettsville. Sir
Knights will be invited to ateend

cluding Darlington, Timmonsville,
Lake City, Hartsville and a number
of other places.
The public is of course cordially

will gather at the temple here and
march to the church in full uniform,
and Dr. Harmon will speak ou the
subject. “The Chivalry of Jesus.”
This will be a very beautiful service
and special music will be rendered

Council Masons are especially invited

Marlon. March 29—Dr. James A-
Havne. secretary of the State Board
of Health, delivered an interesting
end forceful address at the annual
reciprocity meeting of the club worn
en of Marion at the Marlon Public
Library on Tuesday afternoon. He
dealt with the various phases of pub
lic health work and referred to the
special nursing unit which Marion
now has. expressing the hope that
Marlon county would establish a pub
lic health department within the next
few years. He emphasized the need
of county tuberculosis sanitariums,
and touched on malarial conditions in
South Carolina, stating that the town
of Marion was exceptionally free
from this disease. Dr. Hayne was
introduced by Dr. Rufus Ford, of this
city.
