societies have been organized with her
assistance, and she has held honored
membership in most of the clubs that
have been of constructive usefulness
in the city. She was a charter mem

ed twice as its piesident. At one time
she was regent of Samuel Bacot chap
ter of Daughters of the American Rev
olution, also, historian of the Ellison
Capers chapter of the United Daugh
ters of the Confederacy, and at the
time of her death was president of
the City Federation of women’s clubs,
as well as an honorary member of the
Sorosis club. "
Friend of the schorl boy, the school
girl, of tho men r.id wou.» n of her ac
quaintance, who sought her advice,
she was alway,s ready to give advice
or actual help even at a sacrifice of
her personal affairs.
She was gifted as a writer, being
ready with her pen, brilliant, able
and with a fine delicacy that pleased
the most fastidious and most critical.
Throughout the years of Mr. Ayer’s
editorship of the Florence Daily
Times she was his most able ami effi

and has often done valuable work
for the Times since ner connection
with It ceased.

The new Liberty warehouse which so

the big opening sales on or before
August 8. Several months ago the
new Liberty was leased from Law,-
renee. Bowling and Bane by W. M.
Howland and M. M. Miles, both experi
enced warehousemen. They have re
fused to surrender the lease to the
association and will inn the house in

representing aK the big and little to
bacco companies will as usual be on
hand to hid on the weed. According
to A. B. Turner, one of the largest

day rods along. Ample facilities will

Its sale and all in readiness for second

The boxing bouts were held at the
Airdome last night in spite of threat
ening weather, and though a smdller
crowd than usual was present every
thing went off in good style. (
Theo I. Stein was referee, and J.;
Leroy Burch, J. Fred Kuss and Joe j
McKain were the judges. The crowd 1
went on record as desiring a bout at j
a future date between Kewpie Evans, |
the winner of last night’s match and :
Boots Smith, the tough little Charles-1
ton battler. This bout will be ar-|
ranged for the airdome in about two
weeks from now.
The first preliminary between Bill
Trippy and Paul Bunyan weilt to
Trippy in two rounds and Bunyan
woi’e himself out trying to get to
Trippy who was much the cleverer
boxer and punched and danced away. 1
The second bout between Colie
Johnson and Red Coleman might be
given to Johnson as he landed the
most substantial blows. They went
the whole four rounds and were go
ing better in the last than in the
earlier ones. i
The main bout of the evening be
tween Jack Bradley of Greenville, S.
C., am!. Kewpie Evans, of Charlotte, I
N. C., was all Evans’, Bradley being
kayood by a right across to the jaw
in the latter part of the second round.
Bradley is fast on his feet hut no
match for Evans who showed ring
experience, fast foot work and a good
punch. A match between Boot Smith
and Evans should be a hair raiser.
The program for next week has not
been announced yet but two strong
lightweights will he here, and unless
there is continued had weather there
should be a real crowd in attemiance.

Committee For Care Of Property Of
Incompetents
When a person is adjudged incompetent to
take care of their property, the court appoints
a “Committee ”to take charge of their affairs
and such duties are similar to those of
“Guardian.”
Usually an individual is named as “Committee
of the Person,” to look after their physical
well being.
The Court, in selecting the “Committee,” fre
quently follows the wishes of those requesting
the appointment.
Therefore, if you wish to insure the safe
handling of an incompetent’s property, request
the services of our Trust Department^ which
will cost the same as that of an individual.
