W. Hicks, chairman ot the school heard. There was a large audience in the udilorimn and the exercises were splendid in every respect. The ad dress to the graduaiing class was de livered by Dr. \V. F. Holmes who traced the history of ihe colored schools here and told cf (he value of team work. Dr. Holmes address was a hnc effort. Dr. Hickk^ then present ed the diplomas and- took occasion to congratulate the schools upon the sp endtd work they had accomplished The Rev. C. R. Brown voiced the ap- prAciation of the colored people of the city for .the interest the school board had shown in their schools. Dr. Hicks ’ responded pointing to plans which wore in hand for their further advancement.
