On M(inday evening, April 5th, the
Wesley Bible Class of Central Metho
dist church held its regular monthly
business and social meeting at the
homo of Miss Beck Perrlett on Gi’-
lard street, with 28 ladies present.
The meeting was called to order
by the President, Mrs. J. C. Whit-
lev. In the absence*©! the secretary-
treasurer, Mrs. Minnie Casque acted
as secretary, and Mrs. C. F. Middle-
ton Tiled the treasurer's chair.
After business was over a, very
pleasant social hour was spent', con-
siting of music, songs, recitations,
and a reading hy Mrs. Gardner which
was very much enjoyed. Topic,
American Was (’apt in France. Dur
ing the evening . delicious refresh-
monts were servoif it being the Eas
ter season, each one present was
presented with an Easter souvenir,
a bunny rabbit or a tiny chick.
Assisting. Miss Perrlett in enter
laining was Mrs. Anna Brunson and
Mrs. H. K. Gilbert. On leaving, each
one assured the hostesses that thov
had spent a pleasant evening indeed.

ional Bank, of Columbia, for 4.75 per

son, making the payment in a certi
fied check for $2,500 and five $100

Richmond about a year ago by Mr.

best citizens of the Centenary Kec-

of about six weeks. Heart disease was
the cause of the death of this good
old citizen. The body wa. s laid to
rest at. Reedy Creek church Friday,
m the presence of a large gathering
of sorrowing friends and relatives,
Rev. Malice, of Johnsonville, conduct
ed the last sad rites’.
Mr. Rowell was survived by four
children as follows: Claude Rowell,
Mrs. Boyd Shelly, W. . Rowell and
D. B. Rowell. The good wife of the
aged man died about 19 years ago.
M. D. Rowell was a quiet, law-
abiding and valuable citizen in ibis
community. He spent his life in the
quiet pursuit of tilling the soil, and
no man was hi K enemy. Ills faco will
be missed, but bis good deeds will
live on iu the hearts of those who
