paign to collect $400,000 from the
pieopie of the state to erect a memor
ial building In commemoration of
the heroic dead who gave up their

papers, including an afternoon paper
in Atlanta, may announce ;is a demo
cratic candidate for president some
time before the Sen Francisco con

Mr. Hearst a few week., ago in a
signed editorial in his newspapers de
clared his unalterable opposition to
the League of Nations in any form,
commended the course 8f ihe rrepn-
cllables in the senate, and declared
that, in answer to Inquiries addressed
to him the preference of his news
papers, voiced by his own preference,
for president, was either Deed, demo-

The American branch of a large
English manufacturer of woolens has
received some prices for next year
that do not indicate any symptons of
