Jpjtte, N. C- Mr. Steere Is an erecu
livei of the organization and '-isi- a
most pleasing speaker. The parents'
and friends of the scouts are cordial
ly invited to meet with them Sunday
afternoon and it is likely that there
wfu be a large attendance at the thea^
'trq. The address will be along lines
of interest to grown ups as well as
boys. The local scout masters re
quest the parents of the boys to have
their uniforms In good condition and
to see that they are ready to attend
the gathering promptly. Sunday will
be a big day with the scouts, and the
citizens of the city who are interest
ed in their activities are invited to
enjoy the occasion with them.

Soldiers In Germany

pation, BV-b. 27- Fifty thousand books
consisting of works of history, sci
ence, retereSTP* fiction amd others,
have been brought into the occupied
zone recently for the American .sol
diers holding -the Coblenz bridgehead
and the area on the left, bank of the
Hhine.
Two distributing stations have been
opened ; n Trior and Coblenz, where
soldiers may borrow books by merely
signing their name, company and re
giment. In addl.ions books are dis
trituted to the ‘^nops ir the smaller
Kv.ns and the hospital’s through the
several welfare organiz.alons.
Distribution of books is in charge
of Judson T. Jennings, of Seattle,
Washington, for the library wbr ser
vice of the American Library Asfiocia
•Ion. In the first four days the libr
ary was' opened In Coblenz more than
two thousand books were taken out
by soldiers doing garrison duty in the
city ard vicinity.
