An Entertainment That Will Not Fail
to Please Everybody.
The Durham Evening Herald speaks
as follows of the DeKoven Quartette
to> be heard at the school auditorium
to-night, unless the direction of the
Lyceum Association. /
“The DeKoven quartette, which is
really quintette, made eminently good
last night at the Southern Conserva
tory of Music, singing to the largest
of the star course audiences and filling
the upper and lower decks well.
It was one of the best audiences that
any of the troupes have had. The Con
servatory gave a discriminating, well-
trained and critical portion of it, one
that well distributed over the house,
pointed our /always the places that
needed accent and set the pace for
those less able to appreciate the mu
sic.
“The DeKovens rendered a varied
programme of the classic, the popu
lar and the antique. Of the first there
was t cough to please the highest type
of auditor; of the second, enough to
please more people; and of the third
enough to catch and hold the entire
audleAce. And this they did.

ard L. Baxter, first tenor; Ivan H.

PHONE EXTENSIONS.

distance connections with Lake City
and Kingstree, ‘the line having just
been completed to those places and al

The law requires that all persons
owning property or in any wise hav
ing charge of such property, either
as agent, husband, guardian, trustee
executor, administrator, etc., return
the same under oath to the auditor
who requests all persons to be
prompt in making their returns and
save the 60 per cent, penalty which
will be added to the property valua
tion of all persons who fail to make
returns within the time prescribed
by the law.
Taxpayers return what they own
on the first day of January, 1909.
All retdrns must be made on or
before the 20th day of February next

date and all returns made after
the 20th day of February, arc subject
to a penalty of 50 per cent.
