practicable. The remark of many
was “he is a man.” Then, Gov
Ellertie has not shown a strong
and steady hand in the course of
his administration.
Some how, it has, at times, lack
ed dignity and firmness and there
has been displayed more of the pol
iticiau and the weaknesses of hu
man ambition than the desire for
the best good of a great and proud
commonwealth.
But Governor Ellerbe is again
oiu governor and whatever criti
cisms he may have merited, as to
h«s public course, it is conceded
that he is a good man. It is then
the duty of every citizen to aid
and uphold him, in his second
term, in the administration of his
high office, recollecting that the
best wishes and hearty good will of
‘he people, will strengthen his
purpose and his arm; while
constant cavils and criticisms as to
^a^t, will discour
age anil paialyze the efforts which
we believe be will make for the good
of the whole people 1 .
