Feathor- ■tone’s olectipu can't bring about the dire calamities spoken of in his article, and the people know it. We have received a copy <>f the Saturday Evening Post, a sixteen page illustrated weekly, in maga zine form, published by the Curtis Publishing company, Philadel phia. It is mainly literary, containing several entertaining stones and a serai. It has also pages devoted to Biography, “Publick occur rences that are awaking history,” economic and historical subjects, science, art and criticisms on new books. It is a neat magazine paper, splendidly printed, full of interesting pictures and contain ing just such matter as would bo welcome to the family horn i. A very interesting feature of the paper is that it was owned by Benjamin Franklin in 17:29 under the name of the Pennsylvania Gazette and that its publication as he Saturday Evening Post was l)6f un in 1765. KKK OK ITKATHKIMTONK Wo think that Mr. Clayton in his article “Ellerbe or Feither- sto io,” overrates the danger to the “peace aud prosperity of the pec pie,” if some of them see fit to givs thur votes to Keatherstone in the coming primary. If the “ob literation of factional lines* de pends upon all the people, sup- ‘jortinjL un& ^»an,**U res Li upon #an3T . 4 The only true foundation for peace and harmony is a broad lib eralism that accords to every ma’i the right to vote for one or the other of the Democratic can didates, as seems right to him, and this certainly accords with the spirit of Democratic institu- .tions. Even outside of his policy on the liquor question, he has shown himself to he a man in whom the people may well rest deuce. Welling’* Word Contest.
