TimmoLsville, February S.—The
resideece of Mr. G. YV. Atkinson
was burned with its contents about
it o’clock this morning. The fire
caught from a fireplace by a de
cayed sill, and broke out in a
closet filled with clothing, which
was locked. When the door was
opened the flames drove the family
instaatly from the room. So rapid
was the fire that, no help being at
hand, scarcely anything was saved.
Even the gold watches, the prop
erty of Mr. Atkinson’s daughters,
were lost. A pet dog asleep in
one of the rooms was overtaken by
the flames, and its piteous cries,
for a few moments, were at first
supposed to be one of the child
ren, until all were found safe. The
clothing of the family and nearly
aH furniture, bedding, etc., were
consumed. The loss is about one-

The county government law
came up for consideration to-day
on the discussion of Mr. Hender
son's bill from the Senate, but uo
positive action was taken by the
House. There was, however, posi
tive expression of dissatisfaction
with th* existing statute. The
House afier a very long discussion
decided to require all county offi
cials to file detailed re.torts of the
incomes of their offices. Some ef
fort was made to exempt certain
couuties fr»m this requirement,

An Eastern writer, on looking
over a rare old book containing
ashioas of one hundred and
twenty years ago, noted that many
of the modes of the present time
are almost identical in feature with
those of long ago. For instance,
we find the circular skirt, with
ruches, flounces, frills aad other
horizontal trimmings; round-
waisted bodices, finished with
jewelled girdles, clasps and chate
laine ornaments, the leg-o’-mutten
sleeve, rather'amall in outline, and
laced or buttoned half way up the
length of the arm; the poke bon
net, with its very ornate decora
tions, etc. These fashion prints
likewise show t the coiffure corre

some of the present methods o

A fact often overlooked, or not al
ways understood, is that woman suffer
as much from distressing kidney and
bladder troubles as the men. The
womb is situated back of and very
close to the bladder, and for that rea
son any distress, disease or inconve
nience manifested in the kidneys,
back, bladder or urinary passage is of
ten, by mistake, attributed to female
weakness or womb trouble of some
sort.
The error is easily made and may be
as easily avoided by setting urine aside
for twenty-four hours; a sediment
or settling is evidence that your kid
neys and bladder need doctoring. If
you have pain or dull aching in the
brek, p.'S8 water too frequently, or
scanty supply, with smarting or burn-1
ing,—these are also conv incing proofs [
of kidney trouble. If you havedoetor-
ed without benefit, try Dr. Kilmer’s
Swamp-Root, the great kidney remedy.
The mild and the extraordinary effect i
will surprise you. It stands thehigh-
estfor its wonderful cures. If you
take a medicine you should take the
best. At druggists fifty cents and one
