In case the resolution re questing him to prepare a dispen sary bill that will run the gaunt let of the courts is passed we wish him well out of the difficulty. CI'RK FOR HOG CHOLKRA. What is said to be a sure cure for hog cholera has been discover ed. It is nothing more or less than anti-toxine serum with which Dr. D. E. Salmon, chief of rhe national bureau of animal industry, has recently been ex perimenting. In connection with the discovery Mr. Wilson, secretary of agricul tural, says: “I propose to ask congress to provide an appropriation necces* sary to enable this department to furnish 2,000,000 dozens of serum during the next year, and to make a considerable portion of the appropriation immediately available. It seems from Dr. Salmon’s report that it takes three or four mouths to put a horse cr cow in condition to supply the serum; consiquently the work upon an extended scale must be undertaken at once. ‘•The losses from hog cholera are so enormous and have weighed so heavily for years upon our farm ers that ,1 cannot imagine that congress will fora moment refuse to make the appropriation! necessary tocarry on this work thoroughly. Indeed, apart from the great stake the farmers have in this matter, to refuse to provide for a thorough test of this remedy now would be, indeed, penny wise and pound fool ish ; for the discovery of this serum has involved already many years of work and a very large sum of money. It would be a great mis take, now that so great a discovery seems to have been made, not to finish the work by giving it a thorough and extensive test.” 0 n ■ M WILL COMMENCE } AT NINE O'CLOCK.
