Hagood died to-day at 12:40 p. m.
He was 69 years old and had been
confined to his bed since the week
preceding Christmas. His death
was due to Bright’s disease.
Gen. Hagood had not been strong
for the past year. Just before
Christmas he was confined to his
bed and his condition became ser
ious. He had a long ana alarming
fainting attack and he grew weak
er daily, refusing nourishment.
He was attended by Drs. Bellinger
and Todd. Dr. Taylor of Colum
bia was called in consultation.
Gen. Hagood was impressed
from the incipiency of the attack
with the idea of its fatality. He
bore his sufferings with rare pa
tience. He was unconscious for
