Anderson’i daily paper is an as
sured fact—for which we congratu
late our sister citv.
A community may progress ma
terially and it may be lifted up
morally. That it may progress
materially its citizens must be en
ergetic, enterprising and public
spirited ; that it may be lifted up
morally its citizens must array
themselves against vice of every
kind. Furthermore true pro
gress and moral improvement
should go hand in hand.
Let our people consider this
and let them rise up in their might
against every form of vice now
existent in our town.
Regarding yellow fever, the out
look in New Orleans is not prom
ising. While there were no
deaths, the number of cases yes
terday was larger than ever.
Charleston is using every effort to
keep out the disease, and we note
that Fayetteville’s board of health
has taken action in the matter.
While there is no immediate dan
ger we think our own authorities
should be on the aleit. Florence
is a sort of junctional point a fact
worthy of consideration, and,
while we are no alarmist, we think
it would be wise for oar board to
keep in mind the maxim, “An
ounce of prevention is worth
pound of cure.”
Notice.
Just for a limited time I will
make photographs for $1.50. Now
is your time. Lee Qrikr.
