in reference to his failure to secure
the controlling interest in the
Seaboard Air Line. He says lhat

supposed he passed away while
preparing for bed Friday night as

how well the deceased was thought

The deceased was about 48 years,
old. He leaves a wife and several
children—one a grown eon in At

highly accomplished young lady.
Mr. Townsend is one of the best
known travelling men on the road
in the State of Georgia. He has
been on the road for more than 20
years and is very popular with the

The Florence Silver Cornet
Band held a business meeting on
Tuesday night last to devise some
means by which to raise a sum of
money. The advisability of giv
ing a festival or concert was dis
cussed and the president appointed
each member a committee of one
to solicit aid from the ladies who
have heretofore been so willing to
put iu a helping hand. This
money which the band desires to
raise will be nsed for a specific
purpose, a purpose which will af
fect iu a great measure the destiny
of the Florence Silver Cornet
