Ryan made a statement to-day in reference to his failure to secure the controlling interest in the Seaboard Air Line. The Florence Silver Cornet Band held a business meeting on Tuesday night last to devise some means by which to raise a sum of money. The advisability of giv ing a festival or concert was dis cussed and the president appointed each member a committee of one to solicit aid from the ladies who have heretofore been so willing to put iu a helping hand. This money which the band desires to raise will be nsed for a specific purpose, a purpose which will af fect iu a great measure the destiny of the Florence Silver Cornet Band. It is this: Mr. Carl E.
