Speaker wiii not in an
probability announc bis commit
tees until the Very last <*f nvxt
week, if the adjournment for the
holidays be posponed until that
date. Neither is it likely that the
speaker will announce any single
committee in the meantime, not
even the committee on rules. The
house at present is working under
the rules of the last congress, and
while these will be greatly modified
when the new committee on rules
begin their work, they are not so
objectionable as to require undue
haste in the appointment of the
committee.
