LOCALS 1)1 BSIEF. SHORT PARAGRAPHS OP HOME HAPPENINGS. Personal and General Mention of Home Folks and Others Whom we all Know. Charles Jarrot is in Charleston to-day. Rev. J. H. Dixon went to Char leston this morning. Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Beck left yes terday for Charleston. John Jarrot will commence work again to-night having recoverec from his accident. Walter Sheppard an old resident of Florence but now of Georgia, is visiting here. The repairs on the store that T. D. Rhodes <fc Co. are occupying will soon be completed. Santa Claus has a mail box at Mr. HolTmeyer’s store, where you can put a letter for him. W. H. Sholar and daughter, Etta, of Wilmington, are visiting Z. T. Kershaw, of this city. Engine 72 went to Darlington and back this morning on a tria trip and was pronounced all right. The city has put a watering trough at the well that is at the junction of Evans and Dargan street. W. J. Brown, cashier of the Bank of Florence, was among the number going to Atlanta this morning. Its quite cool to-day with a lit tle rain and you can see rubber coats, hats shoes and door mats displayed at various stores. Mrs. O. L. Morgan has an ad vertisement in this issue which it would be well for all to peruse. She has a fine stock and sells at low prices. The cloudiness of the day caused the electric light company to keep the current on to-day, and many of the merchants took advantage of it to shed more light on their goods. Machinist’s Union. The Machinist’s Union was held Saturday night aud elected officers as follows: J. E. Edwards, M. M., Geo. Wilson, Foreman, E. W. Wood, Rec. Sec. M. II. Beck, Fin. Sec., H. T. Young, Tree., J. D. McLeod, Conductor, W. W. McMilhan, Jr., Inside Sentinel, John Fraser, Outside Sentinel, D. M. Hook, Chaplin. THUSTEES. J. E. Edwards, T. P. Spencer, Geo. Wilson. All of which will be installed at the next regular meeting which will be held the third Saturday night in this month. Methodist Appointments. We are glad to see that Mr. Herbert is to be returned to this place and that Mr. Hodges will still serve the District as Presiding Elder. Mr. McFarlan was well liked and all hoped that he would return, but no_ doubt Mr C. C. Herbert, who takes his place will be liked as well, and soon win the love of the people. Festival. The young ladies of the Florence Baptist church will have a festi val at ihe store building of Dr. Ruth* ’a*; on Friday night, the pro ceeds to be given to the church.
