Engine 319 went to Darlington and back on a trial trip to-day and was pronounced O. K. Mrs. Cornelia Wells and sister Miss Hannah Dukes left for their home in Laurenburg, this morn ing, Wednesday. Mr. Arrington, of South Rocky ML, came last night to help in the ticket office, Mr. Witte being still sick in Charleston. Mr. Justice, the foreman of the shops, did some very fine work on the rotary drill press in two hours that took six and eight hours on the old presses. The rail road wire between Florence and Fayetteville was dowm this morning, but Mr. Hughes went otf on 78 and soon had it in working order again. I MARION NOTES. Prof. Shecut conducted a young people’s meeting at the Baptist church last Sunday night. It con sisted of several short talks from different members of the congre gation interspersed with bright songs. These meetings will be held hereafter at regular stated times. There was a colored boy to-day that put $1.05 in a pocket without any bottom, when he found his mistake he could not find his money, although he did take off his shoes, and shake his trouser legs. James M. Allen has sold his residence, on Irby street, to J. II. Temple, and will move to some other point. Mr. Allen has the entire territory of the State for the firm of St. John Kirkham <fc Co., of New York, dealers in fine shoes and will probably locate in Columbia. Quite a number of our citizens took advantage of the Thanksgiv ing holiday and the exceedingly cheap rates offered to attend the exposition. Some of those who went are F. H. Wardlaw, S. A.
