The New School Building.
The new graded school building
is beginning to r^ar itself at the
north side of the city. The build
ing is made of a very super or
quality «>f machine made brick
manufactured by Mr. D. A. Lay-
ton, on the W. U. & A. road near
the Pee Deo river. They are very
hard, so much so that it is almost
impossible for them to be cut.
Mr. J. C. McKinney, the contract
or, is v*'ry careful to sort the brick
in laving them so that the color
will correspond, the very dark
ones being plucecl at the ground
and the lighter grades used as the
building is completed.
There will be four rooms on thi
ground floor, two in the n.ain par
will be 2“xo0 feet each, with a
wide hailway between and a music
room in the tower 11 feet square.
At the north of this main building
will be an auditorium 30x60 feet
In the second story of the main
building will be a hall the full
size cf that part and a small mu
sic room in the tower.
The whole building will be cov
ered with a galvanized zinc shingle
roof, which will be made more
durable for a building of this kind
than a slate roof as was first pro
posed. The building will be com
pleted about January 15 and will
cost about $3,000. It will be an
ornament to the thrifty young
town of Dillon.—Dillon Herald.
