or less touched ' " legislation enacted
or proposed at the last session, are
making strenuous but apparently futile
efforts to defeat Representative
Claud X. Sapp for reelection. The
Bispatch-Xews makes it a rule not to

dabble in matters which do not affect
Lexington county, and we would
have nothing to say now except for
. the fact that we feel that Representative
Sapp's work in the last legislature
removes^ him from the purely
local field. He is a legislator whom
the, whole state needs. Reared on a
farm, with a well rounded experience
in the law, he knows the needs of ail
the people,' and he was of service to
all of South Carolina during his term
in the legislature. He will no doubt

the fight that is being
waged on him, because he deserves to
win. Besides, Mr. Sapp is one of

There is a good prospect that Mr.

Richland county would
make a serious blunder to leave him
off her delegation. There is small
chance that this will be done.

CARD FROM MR. SMITH.
To the Voters of Lexington County:
I wish to state to you that I am
running for the office of treasurer on
my own merits and on the record
which I have made since taking office.
I have tried at all times to discharge
the duties of the office with
courtesy and dispatch, and I am sure
that an investigation will show that I
have made good. The office of
treasurer is one in which a new man
should not be put every term, there-1
fore, being qualified for the work I |
am asking to be returned.
