p? 3UEMINISCENCES OF THK LONG AGO. "Heap Sees. But Few Knows" (By Uncle Josh.) Last week we mentioned the family and business of-^Ir. David Hendrix f in the village of Lexington in the long ago. There were six brothers? David, Mike, John. Uriah, Billie and Zachariah. Uncle Mike and his son, Leroy, were engaged in the mercantile business next to Sol and Jimmie Hendrix' * - ?- tfnln dry 'gooas siore on soum sme siam street. They had in rear of their fs store a lot provided for the ac^> commodation of their country cusipr' tomers with shed and stables. The \ store was wel Istocked with almost anything you could call for in mer chandise. Uncle Mike was considr, ered very close but strictly honest in Iall dealings and clever in his way. He was always jovial and funny. He delighted among his innocent sports in idle time to see tin cans, with rocks in them, ted to dogs tails and start them on the run. in the street, he would laugh and slap his hands shaking' himself almost to pieces. Maj. Ephriam Corley had a drove of goats running on the streets, among them a playful billie goat, and Uncle Mike delighted to tease Billie and see him rear straight up and butt at you. Billie could not stand a string with a piece cf paper tied to his tail. He would run, kick and blate and Uncle Mike, would laugh himself tired at Billie's antiques?in the drove of goats and start confusion among them. Uncle Mike also ran a large hotel opposite his store which was well patronized in those days. Leroy Hendriv, his partner, was strictly a business man and ir whom you could depend as reliable in every way. Their trade was extensive and consequently they accumulated considerable from their business. Uncle Mike's companion was Eliza ^^B beth Lewie. They hl^d five sons, LeHfl roy, Richard (Dick), S. I was almost dead. I tried i every thing 1 heard of, and a number o 1 doctors. Still I didn't get any relief. I couldn't eat, and slept poorly. I believe if I hadn't heard of and taken Cardnl I would have died. I bought six bottles, after a neighbor told me what it did for her. "I began to eat and sleep, began tc j gain my strength and am now well and strong. I haven't had any trouble since ... I sure can testify to the good that Cardul did me.
