Farm work about here has been
much belated by the recent tainy
weather. Some corn has been planted
and perparations for cotton planting
are being made. We have been
informed that the acreage of cotton
will be about the same as lasts year
with a reduction of -?
.v. JJC1 &C1C.
We think this is a mistake unless one
wishes to work simply to be employed.
The risk is great with heavy fertilizing
and the wise plan would be to reduce
the acreage, increasing the application
of fertilizer and frequency
of cultivation, but every one to his
own notion.
Mr. A. G. Smith has had the trac- i

tor and spray pumps humming this i
past week cultivating and spraying his
orchards. These thousands of peach t
tress with their myriads of bldom c
have been a lovely sight this last few
weeks. It is to be hoped that we t
have no further killing frosts this z
spring; last spring frosts during the
latter ;part of April-kilied the entire n
fruit cropi in nearby sections and in- k
jured it here to a-great degree. ,
