Kyzer had the misfortune one day last week, to loose a very fine cow. Quite recentlv Mr. Thos. Hall of the Huffman Burnt Mill section lost j Ills mule from being gored by a cow. I>ast Wednesday night Messrs. M. M. Howard, It. E. Rish and "Son" Taylor went fishing and on their return brought back nineteen fine catfish . . Mrs. Nezzie Grout and children from down below Rexington, visited relatives, ttnd friends near the 'Ford last Saturday night and Sunday. Mr. I. M. . Hnllman and family were last d-?tjhday\s guest of Mr. and Mrs. D. 0rosson Kyzer. Mr. ami' Mrs. Elbert, Smith and children from un on Pond Brunch visited II. A. and Mrs. Howard, a short while last Sunday eveningr Rev. and tyrs. R. W. Johnson of Gilbert were out visiting their parishioners today In this vicinity. Times are so hard now that you cannot borrow a .dollar, but you can see a dollar and >4 quarter hanging to almost any dog's neck. The entertainment at Pond Branch last Saturday^ night was largely attended ad . Is . always the way when anything id doing up there, as it seems that the name "Pond Branch" naturally draws a large crowd. Just why we do not know. Max Crout says "that if the party or parties that borrowed his grind rock in his absence, will just put it back where they taken it from, he will be very thankful and will ask no questions." We think Max would he letting them off too light. Any man that will stoop that low ought to have to work on the public works for aw! ile at least. IMPORTANT MEKTIXtl OF "LEXINGTON COUNTY TRUSTEES An important meeting of the trustees of all the schools in the county will be held Friday in the Court House ac | Lexington to discuss legislation that is about to be enacted that will affect every school in the county., Every trustee is urged to attend as this meeting is of vital interest to town atul country schools alike. If you want to do something for your school now is the time. The public is also invited. The meeting will he held at 11 o'clock. It' you cannot come send any other trustee whom you know. Paul Smith, In passing through town Saturday, to Columbia, remembered the printers and made them a pleasant visit. We were glad to know that his father, Mr, H. R. Smith, is convalescent though uuite feeble. Dr. Whltmlre. of Asheville, X. C. a former clerk in the Harmon Drug Store, and very popular with out people, was on a visit here recently. Mr. J. W. Sharpe of Swansea, a substantial farmer and good citizen paid us a pleasant visit Monday. Culbreatli. hankers of Johnson, spent week-end with Jesse Ballentine, last week. Mr. Ernest "Wingard, formerly of tliis county but now of Concord, N. C., visited relatives and friends here recently. Mr. W. M. Laird, one of Pellon's prominent citizens was here on business Saturday last week. Mr. John Spigner of Dixiana was in town on business Tuesday last week and made us a pleasant call. Mrs. V. M. Wingaril and daughter, Madeline, are visiting Mrs. Wingard's sister, A. M . Campbell. Florence, S. C. Mary allrtley of Lexington, who lias been ill for some time at the Columbia hospital, was dismissed last Thursday and she' returned home. Mr.. J. Alfred Lucas, one of the best farmers In the Gaston section, was in town Monday. Mr. \V. E. Humphries, now of Spartanburg, spent the week-end wfill VliM fnmilv in tow.. lfi? wore also glad to see him and shake his clever hand. Mr. Johnson King, one of the most successful farmers and clever men on the Edisto was in town Monday and paid our office a pleasant call. Mr. D. J. Roof was in town Tuesday morning and concluded tie just might as well be off of 12-Mile Creek, as to be without The Dispatch-News, so he added his name to our list and will be a constant reader in the future . Mrs. \V. D. Dent and son. Woodrow. spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Adams at Batesburg. Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Farr of Gretna, Va., are now at home with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Dent.
