Sharpe and Children are spending a few days w;th .Mr. Sharpe's father down near Gas4on. . ^ We regret to know that Mrs. Isaiah Corley is still confined to her bed after several weeks treatment at the Columbia hospital, and hope that she will so^ii be able to be about in herl 11^ usual brisk way. ? Mr. Ralph W. Sox and family have K. -;:wbecome inhabitants of our town now, moving into the residence vacated by Mr. A. G. Craft when he moved to vCayce a few weeks ago. rj The friends of Mr. J. G. Mr. J. C. Barr of Batesburg visited relatives here recently. Mr. John Taylor and little son from near Boiling Springs visited his fath-. er-in-law, Mr. J. G. M. Sox Sunday. Mrs. C. M. Schneider and sons, Everette and Cromer, came down Saturday afternoon, andc attended the school entertainment at Sharpe's Hill Saturday evening. SWANSEA NEWS. At a regualr meeting of Oliver Lodge A. F. A. M. No. 133 held last night, the following officers were elected: Daniel Redmond, W. M.; H. A. Blume, S. W.; Dr. J. B. Edwards, J. W.; E. E. Rhoden, Treas.; A. P. Jackson, Sec'ty; Rev. J. R. McKittrick, S. D.; J. H. Hunter, J. D.; J. A. Martin, Tiler; W. J. Redmond and D. R. Goodwin, Stewards. Swansea Chapter No. 81 of the Eastern Star met yesterday afternoon and elected the following officers for next year: Mrs. W. H. Wannamaker, W. M.; A. P. Jackson, W. P.; Mrs. Annie "Williams, A. M.; Mrs. B. E. Craft, Sec'ty; Mrs. T. L. Williams, Conductor; Mrs. A. P. Jackson, A. C. Mr. W. H. Wannamaker, who lives 5 miles east of Swansea lost, by fire, a tenant house one day this week. Mr. A. G. Grant from Teals Mill section told the'Chronicle man Wednesday that partridges recently killed near his home were found to have eaten boll weevils. Mr. Grant said one of the birds had as many a: twenty-seven weevils in his craw. He wants to see some measures taken to protect these birds which will mean so much to the farmer if thev will destroy the pest.
