(Laurensville Herald.) j Payment of all taxes within the i . dates prescribed by law, or between r October 15 and December 31, is pre- | requisite to voting in any legal''election. after December 31, this being a recent decision of the State Supreme court. | The decision was made in a case appealed from Chester, it being shown! that last January a portion of that county attempted to annex itself to York county. The Chester board of canvassers declared that ninety-seven vctes were illegal because the voters BH^had not paid thir taxes before DecemSI. The case was appealed to State Board, the Circuit Court r?T?fi finallv to the Supreme Court, the r decision being affirmed in every instance. It seems that this -decision would have considerable effect on the number of voters participating in any - ? election during the first six months e; the yar as many of us wait until after Christmas to pay our taxes. But whatever our custom has been, i cither in ..paying taxes or conducting i elections, a decision has been made by-a court that has the supreme ' 'power to decide, and the decision must hereafter be observed.
