MR. TVHITTEX RETURNS TO METHODIST CHURCH. i Methodists of the Lexington Cir> cuit and the citizens of Lexington I generally are well pleased that the j Rev. H. A. Whitten was returned to the Lexington circuit for the \incoming year. Mr. Whitten returned Tuesday from Lancaster, where- he attended the sessions of the annual confernece of the Upper South Carolina Conference, reporting a great meeting of the denomination and well satisfied to spend another year in Lexington. The conference year just closed was Mr. Whitten's first year on the Lexington circuit. During that time he has made many warm friends, not only among the members of his own denomination, but 'throughout the ^community* in general. Other appointments of the conference in which Lexington folks are interested are as follows: Batesburg, Rev. T. W. Munnerlyn; Brookland, Rev. R. C. Griffith; Gilbert, Rev. L. W. GOOD ROAD * ASSOCIATION GROWING IN MEMBERSHIP Columbia, Nov. 7.?The South Carolina Good Roads Association Saturday received application for membership from the Columbia Builders Exchange. "We desire," says a letter from Virgil C. Dibble, secretary of the exchange enclosing membership check "by becoming a member of the South Carolina Good Roads Association as an organization to evidence our lively interest in the attainment of the vitally important object you have in view. We thus add to whatever individual memberships the builders of Columbia may hold with you the membership of their exchange as the body through which they give effect to their support of movements for the good of this city and this state." Application for membership was also received Saturday from "William C. Farber, chairman of the good roads committee of Lexington county. "It isvwith pleasure that I enclose my check for membership," wrote Mr. Farber. "I appreciate what this good work means as about nine years ago I formed the good roads committee of Lexington county to look after the road between Columbia arid Batesburg. [ Miss Linda Craft spent Sunday with) Miss Leila Mae King. Messrs. William and Barney Dykes dined at Mr. W. M. Laird's last Sunday. We were very sorry to hear of Mr. John Fulmer's baby being burned Sunday, but hope for it a speedy recovery. The Clay Spring school is progressing nicely at present, with Miss Viola M. Sharp as teacher. Mr. Cash Fallaw and family spent Sunday with Mr. O. J. King and family. Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Rodgers attended services at King Grove Sunday.
